Zero: Boredom? Maybe...
The Greatest Song Ever... The Hymn of the Soviet Union. 'Proof that music can move hearts and minds and stir a sense of pride and love. It
almost makes me a communist idealist... ALMOST. I'm not a communist though... let's just get that part straight, heh.
I just honor the ideals and hold them in a high philosophical regard. It is the perfect song. It is truly a song to be sung in times of joy or in times of extreme sorrow. The pride it instills is universal. It is more than a simple song, more than just another national hymn. It is pure emotions of pride and communal love in the tangible form of music. The fact that there are official multi-language versions is a testament to its universal power. I love the bravado. The Soviet bravado. A nation built around its people and collective ideas that holds the individual citizen high above all for it represents them all.
Sure, it's only the IDEA (b/c we all know that's not how it really happened... not at all). Human instincts and primal nature win out over ideals everytime I guess... I am no different. While my mind may be enthralled by Soviet and communist ideals, my heart and soul are of capitalist nature. An aristocratic and capitalist nature. I would have made a lousy communist. It's only a romantic dream. Nothing more. Better government is a goal... World peace is a dream. The dreams are more appealing but the goal is the reality. I believe that dreams can make up an individual's personality and can influence their outlook on life... even their goals. But goals and what someone actually accomplishes make a person what he is. And in this world that's what matters. Everything else is secondary... everything else are details. We are measured and judged by what we do, not by what we want to do. Human instincts and primal nature win out over ideals everytime. Personal greed and pride destroyed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Their physical human nature could not keep up with their dreams. The two were not compatible. It destroyed the whole; the nation and its people. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is dead. The Soviet Union only exists in our minds and in the deep recesses of our hearts.
Who would have thought that Orwell's Animal Farm was right on the money? Very Sad... very sad indeed.
RIP
