El Feo Kern: stare through my human skin mask
actually Adam, that WAS me.
you see, I was to chicken sh*t to stay in Iraq so i flew back to the states.
once i got here i realized i couldnt face the ridicule and humiliation of being such a coward so i skinned one of those Jehovah-wieners outside the airport and then wore it like a suit in the attempt to conceal my true identity.
I couldn't go back to a callcenter so i decided to go back to college to get a fresh start... with my new found face :)
heh - seriously though, thats pretty creepy Adam
sounded JUST like me?
did you kill him?
there can be only one Adam... there can be only one.
I think the flies out here are *cheech* messing with my mind man*/cheech
El Feo Kern: attempt number 3
well - this is my third attempt to post
I'd explain, but that would take waaaay to long (blogger is pissin me off)
so I'll make this brief
"hello everybody"
please post if/when you can
it helps, i promise

Good to see everyone is in good spirits. Oct. 25, huh? Sweet, cant wait to see you guys back in the US. will you have a beard... and a dark tan?
Jason AKA: [RT] NegativePwr: Back in Baghdad!!!
Well,
I arrived in Baghdad this morning and met up with Kern. He seem to be in good spirits and looks to be doing well. I will be taking him to his site to get him setup and I will be sure to let you know when we get there. I am looking forward to my trip to Dubai for my B-Day! 2 days of fun and relaxation I have also heard that I Dubai sells major name brand electronics at 1/4 the price in the US so I will be checking that out as well. BTW my home leave for Oct. 25th has been approved and is final. I will be looking at my plane tickets here very soon and get it all setup. I am pretty sure that Gerry's home leave has been approved as well for that time period but I will have to double check. I will be arriving in Dallas on Oct. 25th and be leaving on Nov. 9th. I am not sure if I whereI will be staying but I am pretty sure that I will get a room at the Laquinta Inn on Plano Pkwy and Preston. I am going to try and plan a quick trip to UT also to see my dad and hang out there for a couple of days. Anway enough for now talk to ya later.
El Feo Kern: stand your ground
Bob... i admire your attempts to defend yourself and try to explain why you believed what you did...
I'm sorry, but you were still wrong - that will not change.
I was right...accept it and let it die man - let it die
*Randy* OH YEAH!! */randy* ::slaps his elbow::
and dont try to say you were talking distance as opposed to volume this entire time... cause i will have home leave at some point... I know where you sleep
that is all.
Jason AKA: [RT] NegativePwr: Iraqi Soccer (Football).....
I know what you mean Kern. I was actually watching the game with some Kurdish and Iraqi soilders when they won and it was Kaos. People yelling over the radios in Arabic wepons going off left and right... The military came out because they were firing their weapons and had to get them to stop... It was a rather fun night. Watch out for Tuesday Iraq plays either South Korea or Portugal. If they win again... Make sure to wear you Kevlar helmut. It will literally be raining bullets. I will see you soon.
El Feo Kern: 's pulse quickens
ok ... I finally had "puckering"experience last night
what was it you ask?... prolly not what you'd expect...
the iraqis won their olympic soccer match.
hoe - lee - shi'ite.
it was pretty to watch, until i started hearing "thuds"
gravity, not just a good idea... it's the law.
Zero: The Dogs of War
One of the best damn security teams in all of IRock! Here I am pictured with my current favorite, an M-4 assault carbine outfited for EXTREME CQB (close quarter battle), complete with short barrel, reflex scope, forward grip, and a 100+ round twin-drum. I've blurred the location, date, and faces due to security reasons and safety.

Zero: "I am the bullet in the gun..."
My homage picture to the revered Colt .357 Python; the BEST .357 revolver in firepower history. And yes, I am smoking a cigar in this pic. I've recently found that I have a liking for cigars... especially cuban cigars available in abundance.

Zero: The ZeroSpace Arms Critique... Issue 1
Above are weapons captured by Special Forces and some of the security guys here. Today, we decided to take a few of them "for a spin". Our menu today consists of the following from left to right: AKM w/ folding stock, Sterling L34A1, Colt Python, and Jati-Matic
Our AKM performed pretty typical of all AK family weapons. Accuracy has never been a strong point of the AK... especially at distances over a hundred fifty yards when compared to the AR family of weapons. And you can forget about it when going fully auto. Just brace this sucker on your hip and spray and pray. Survivabilty and reliability are this weapon's strongpoints... which are apparent judging from the wear and tear on this particular piece. Easy to use and even easier to get around here ($7 each), it's no wonder it's a household name/favorite.
Our British-made Sterling L34A1 was quite a treat. First and foremost: this sucker's quiet! With it's built in suppressor, you barely hear more than the clicking of the bolt as it fires... even in full auto. It uses a 9mm cartridge and recoil is fairly light and controllable. I dare say it's as accurate as an MP-5 at 50 meters.
The American Colt Python.... How this got in Iraq, I have no clue. This is a genuine stainless steel collectors piece. No longer in production, this is the weapon responsible for much of the .357 cartridge's fame. Well balanced and accurate to the 'T'. Point and destruction will follow. See above post.
As for the our Finland made Jatimatic (Finland makes firearms??).... well... it's cheap and does a great job of throwing bullets in the air... ummm... that's about it. The sights on this particular weapon were even welded down... probably 'cause they really don't do much for this weapon. This particular SMG (sub-machinegun) suffers from quirky action (some unique patented locking system that sux) and a tempermental trigger. The most you could hope for with this weapon is to simply stick it in someone's gut and pull the trigger... hard.
[RTI] ZeroFunction
Zero: Heh heh....
Yeah, it's great how a little fun with firepower can really brighten our days here.
Awesome pictures, Jason. I envy the M-82 Barret you fired. From what I can tell it's the full size '82 and not the "light .50" as the magazine appears to be forward of the trigger. Now all we need to do is swap .50 cal experiences.
Kern - Welcome to the IRock. Doha sucked, didn't it?
Kender - Neat photoshopping... however there is a bit of a blur where the cows were... especially near the bushes I'm pointing to... a cloaked herd of cows perhaps?
Anyways, I've got a ton of pics I still haven't posted. Jason's right... I've been taking more pics than a chinese tourist/spy. I'm about a week or so behind but I'll get more up as I get the time. Comments help.
Tip of the Week: Wearing body armor while doing your daily tasks makes for a great workout exercising strength and endurance.

The Barret .50 Cal. OHHH YEA.. This is a very sexy weapon with alot of horsepower and ALOT of fun to shoot. Me and Aaron burned through a clip each.

Jason AKA: [RT] NegativePwr: The Best Day Since I Have Been in Iraq!!!!
Well, This day had to be one of the best days I have had in Iraq. Me and Aaron got to go out with a SF team to the range and watch and film them train a new Iraqi SF team. I have blurred the SF team members faces at their request. I have also asked if I can post a few pics on the blog and they said it would be fine. Anyway Aaron is the tech here at the site I am at and the one with the camera in the picture. After our filming was done we got to go out and play check out the pics.

Jason AKA: [RT] NegativePwr: The Lions Den!
Kern, That is awesome that you have arrived. That flight is a pain but just remember you will not have to do it again for another 90 days. I wish I could meet you when you first get into Baghdad, unfortunately I had to come out to An Najaf to do some work. I am pretty sure however that I will be taking you to your final destination. Please keep me posted on whats going on with the Kuwait office I am at ext: 2340
All,
All is well.... I am not sure exactly how long I will be in Najaf but do not worry everything where I am at is ok. On another note I recieved my package from my sister. It has all the computer goodies that I ordered. It also has a copy of DOOM3 Thanks to Kender. I was able to install DOOM3 and play around on the first level. I can already tell that this game is not going to be easy but it did rock. The lighting is everything in this game. Anyway.... Gerry I would be happy to burn a copy for and get it on the next convoy heading your way. Kern I will probably see you so I could give you a copy. Well....I am off to work now. Talk you later.....
El Feo Kern: yo yo yo...
Live from Kuwait - da Kern - in the very hot, stinky, sweaty flesh.
yup... thats right... i made it.
what you called Monday, I called 20hrs of "Man this chair sucks" hell at 30,000ft
anyway - nothing cool to say - very drained and indifferent.

They actually let me push the button that detonated 200 tons of ordnance... This is me in front of MY "man-made cloud". Hell Yeah!!!
The explosion here is about 1-2 miles behind me. I am standing on a storage bunker about 25-30 feet high. It took about 4 and a half seconds for the shockwave and sound to reach/hit me. I also got a video of the actual blast. I'll have to find a way to post it and some other vidz I have.

Zero: My first munitions blast
Ok, this shot wasn't a very big one. I'm sure Jason has posted bigger shots than this online. But it's still pretty impressive considering that we were pretty far away from this thing. I'm not exactly sure how far we were. It took the sound approximately 20 seconds to reach us. You do the math.
[RTI] ZeroFunction
Zero: "We got a fire down-range!!"
Heh, remember that controllable 7-10 round burst I told you about? Well, I had a 1 to 4 ratio of tracer rounds to regular FMJ ammo loaded in my SAW when I lit up this target box and set it on fire. This is a pic of us putting out that fire. My bad...
[RTI] ZeroFunction
Zero: The Belgian made FN Minimi...
...also known as the M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon. Not too shabby. It is quite heavy with the 200 round ammo can attached, but this is a weapon you could go to town with! You can fire a controlled 7-10 round burst with excellent accuracy. In fact, this weapon kicked a lot less than the M-4 because of it's weight. Iiiiit's gooooood...
[RTI] ZeroFunction
Zero: The Colt M-4 (SOPMOD) 5.56mm Fully-Automatic Assault Carbine
I think out of all the weapons I've fired so far, this is the one I'd take in a firefight. Controllable recoil, great accuracy when it's zeroed, fully automatic, and customizable with long-range scopes, aimpoint sights, and more. If you've played AA, you know what I mean.

Jason AKA: [RT] NegativePwr: Posting Off Season
Hello,
Sorry I have not posted in awhile but ever since I got back to Baghdad it has been non stop work. Up at 6 and last night I did not go to bed until 1am. Gerry is back up north at the camp I was at now. We traded places the other day and he will eventually be going to his final destination. I am in Baghdad now and I will let you all know when I move once I get there.
I spoke with Kern the other day on the phone and he seemed like he was going to live through CRC.... I look forward to him coming out here. Hopefully I will get to spend a few days wih him getting him trained up on the job. I am also hoping to head up north here soon to spend a couple of days with Gerry but everything is pretty much up in the air. Anyway..... I hope everyone is doing good and keep on posting as that is stuff that keeps us out here conencted with you back home.
Special Thanks to Kender, because of him DOOM3 is in the package that my sister has sent and I look forward to checking it out on the Alienware to really put the machine to the test.

Zero: MRE Banter... (I think it was heat induced...)
Yeah, I definitely dug the MREs there (and no, Jason, I'm not sick of them yet). I find that among the 3 major packagers for MREs Wornick, made in McAllen TX, is the best. They come complete with all the major components of the MRE we've come to know and love right down to the dessert candy and little bottles of Tobasco. Next would be the ones made in Indiana by AmeriQual. They're ok... though the Tobasco in the Wornick (and sometimes Sopacko) packages is way better than the crushed pepper stuff they use instead. As for Sopacko, well... sometimes you're lucky to get the whole meal. Sometimes they're good and complete with everything available in a Wornick pack, and other times you're lucky to get the meal at all.... So that puts them in last standing with me. Consistancy is everything. Oh, and as for the powder "milk" shakes: don't knock 'em 'till you try 'em (strawberry's the $hit).
Interesting side-note: Did you know a single MRE contains the full 2000 calories recommended for a full day (and sometimes more) by the FDA?
Out
El Feo Kern: CRC
damn... this blows
The MRE's are the best thing here.
(this is just in regards to the actual entity of CRC - not the people that are here for the same reason as me or Ft. Bliss)

I am sure that he will post soon though.
Anywho......I am outta here for the night. I will check in later.

Anonymous: more on raped computers
Ya... everytime i pull outta the game my computer looks at me like "what the hell did you just do to me?" then its slow and unresposive for a lil while. but i cant help but go back for more although I am having troubles with the game ever so much (i.e. running at 640x480 with low detail quality) the game is supper addictive challanging and has added a few new twists to the first person shooter catagory that i didnt think i would ever really see.
El Feo Kern: Re: Michelle
uh... no
jk - more than likely it would "run" the game (and by that i mean the game would rape your computer... to DEATH), just not very well.
but i'm passin this one to Bob... since he isnt in Hell... yet.

HOLY CRAP!!!
This game scared the piss out of me (no really you can see it on my chair and desk and floor and walls). I dont think a Game has EVER made me just about fall out of my chair. I wish I could describe the events that occured, but I would rather everyone else get the same out of it that I did. This game, so far, is living up to everything that we would expect it to be. The Graphics are astonishing. The detail is out right mind-blowing even in thier lowest settings. Props to ID for yet another fiendish monstrosity of a game!
These are my system Specs:
- Shuttle SN41G2
- North bridge-Nvidia nForce2, South bridge-nVidia MCP-T
- AMD XP 2200 (1.8 GHz)
- 768mb DDR 333 RAM Dual Channel
- Onboard Geforce4 MX with 128 MB VGA share memory
- Onboard Realtek ALC650 6 ch 5.1 sound
- 25oGb Western Digital Hard drive
Doom 3 Minimum System Requirments:
- 1.5 GHz Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 1500
- 384 MB of memory
- 2 GB of hard drive space
- nVidia GeForce 3 or ATI Technologies 8500
I exceed the requirements but have learned that I may need a new video card anyway. I ran the game the first time at 800 x 600 with medium detail and found it to be to choppy to go on so I reduced it to 640 x 480 with low detail, the game still hicuped from time to time but was at least playable.
More on system requirements here
For all you fans of Chris Vrenna and Clint Walsh you may also enjoy this game in a different way. The sound track has been nothing short of amazing thus far.
